Ordering Custom Hand-carved Wood Entry Doors
Our DOORWAYS TO THE WEST custom collection is designed, built and hand carved one at a time. Careful attention is paid to the harmony of grain and color. The wood is worked by hand using planes, chisels, and scrapers, which makes the wood sparkle with subtle textures and colors.
This artistry produced by the hand, eye, mind and ultimately the human heart, has a pleasing character that cannot be reproduced in mass quantity by a machine driven industry.
The process of ordering your custom hand carved door begins with choosing a door style. We offer a Plank Style Door, a Single Panel Style and Frame and Panel Style Doors. Select the style of door to fit your home and taste.
Then, choose the carving subject. Once you have a general idea of the design you'd like, then contact us and Tom will work up your custom drawings. We'll fax them to you and then discuss what you like or what you want changed. This process continues until you get just the door you are dreaming of.
Finally, you'll choose a door package: Do you need a single door or a matched pair? Do you need the pre-hung package or a slab door? Does your door need to be oversized?
Custom Door Pricing
Standard 3'0" x 6'8" door, slab: $8,500
- with pre-hung package: $10,500
Double doors, slab: $15,500
- with pre-hung package: $18,000
Tom will discuss your wood type to help you make the right decision for the look you want. These prices include materials for most wood choices, however occasionally some exotic woods can cost more. Many new homes feature over-sized entry doors, or doors with sidelights and transoms, or arched tops. Contact me for prices on these. I'm here to help you through the entire design process to deliver a door you will love.
Design work will be done for serious inquiries only. I charge a $150 Non-refundable design fee and require some information about your project to begin work on your drawings. This is subtracted from the final payment on all orders. 50% down secures a place in my schedule. Photos of your completed door will be sent by e-mail. Final payment is due after receipt of photos and before your doors are shipped.
Shipping Your Custom Door
I build a custom crate for your door of solid OSB and styrofoam packing material. The shipping company says they're among the best crates they've seen. This provides the maximum protection of your investment during shipping. Crating costs $300.00. The crate is shipped Freight Collect, FOB, Pueblo, Colorado. Shipping prices vary by weight and location of delivery.
